Management:

• Pre-pregnancy counseling

• epilepsy should be well controlled before conception.

• High-dose folic acid from pre-conception, 
• Reviewing antiepileptic drugs (AEDs) 

• Drug of choice (CLL): lamotrigine, levetiracetam or carbamazepine 
• minimum number of drugs at the lowest effective dose required for control of epilepsy

• Monitoring of plasma levels of AED: drug level can fall in pregnancy. 
• Delivery: institutional with trained medical staff.
• General safety advice: showering instead of bathing, avoid driving, swimming, fire.
